Poseidon is known as the god of earthquakes, horses, and water (Fresh & Salt). These facts link to the odyssey by he is the god of those three things
He is a brother of the 2 gods that are named Zeus and Hades. They are from the same father. He came from his fathers (Cronus) stomach because he ate his children, Zeus cut Cronuses stomach open and got him out.

When Posiedon was in a good mood he would make islands. When in a bad mood he would make earthquakes. This relates to the odyssey by how islands and earthquakes were made.
Poseidon's weapon was a trident which helped him make islands and earthquakes and in battle.
Posiedon would give the shape-shifting power to others. When Caenis requested it he gave it to her and she became a male warrior named Caeneus.
Poseidon Violated Aethra and gave birth to Theseus and Theseus turned Caeneus into a man, at her request.
